MetaMask is an extension for the Ethereum browser

MetaMask allows users to view Ethereum’s blockchain from within their browser. The extension allows users to execute Ethereum transactions directly within the browser.

How does it work?

The MetaMask extension incorporates Ethereum’s web3 API to any website’s Javascript context, meaning when you open a web page, the extension will be able to read the information stored in the blockchain. These include the Ethereum addresses for every wallet, their associated balances, as well as the Ethereum address and balance at the contract address. The number of transactions completed is also included.

Signing up creates a wallet in MetaMask clients. Users can move tokens from one address to another, transfer funds, and withdraw money between wallets.
